Cybernautic receives the Prestigious Small Business Excellence Award
Feb 22, 2010

When Normal, IL based web design company Cybernautic, Inc. was in its infancy, founder and CEO Chad Parker decided that he didn’t just want to run a business that was good at web design; he wanted to focus his energies on setting the standard for quality web design and development services in his community.

Eleven years later, Cybernautic has exceeded that goal, adding search engine optimization and social networking services to their portfolio.  Additionally, the web design firm expanded their Bloomington-Normal headquarters, opening a new office in Peoria, and offering services in Springfield, and Champaign-Urbana, IL.

On Saturday, January 30th, 2010, Cybernautic was honored to be the recipient of the 2009 Small Business Excellence Award, part of the first annual Business Excellence Awards presented at the Mclean County Chamber of Commerce Gala at the Doubletree Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

Among the 400 + attendees at the event were fellow honorees the Baby Fold, winner of the Non Profit Excellence Award; Sweenz Inc., winner of the Micro Business Excellence Award; Youthbuild Mclean County, winner of the Green Business Excellence Award; BroMenn Healthcare, winner of the Large Business Excellence Award; and retiree Woody Shaddid, winner of the Mclean County Chamber of Commerce Legacy of Excellence Award, as well as Illinois State Representative Dan Brady, Mayors Steve Stockton of Bloomington and Chris Koos of Normal, and many other prominent members of the community.

The award presenters included Nicor Gas, Corn Belt Energy, the Snyder Companies, the Mclean County Chamber of Commerce, and the Pantagraph.

The awards were accompanied by video presentations of each of the winners as well as “Six Courses of Excellence” prepared by award winning Doubletree Executive Chef Karl Bronnbauer, who is noted for his skill with ice sculpting which he learned from a Japanese chef, in addition to other culinary achievements.

Cited for providing “personalized and cutting-edge web design, development services and support for more than ten years,” Cybernautic, Inc. was also commended for work on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Central Illinois project in Philo, IL last August.  In addition to designing, developing, hosting, and managing the website, Cybernautic helped to coordinate volunteers, media, and donations and was instrumental in organizing supporters of the event.

Gary York, local businessman and founding partner of Logicboard, Inc. and former senior pastor of Eastview Christan Church, recommended Cybernautic for the award.  He stated that he was continually influenced by Cybernautic’s efforts and ideas.  “How they find time to be a technology leader in the midst of client development and work remains amazing,” he said, adding, “If you are looking for “cutting-edge” website design, search optimization, and the latest trends in electronic, web-based marketing, give these people a serious look. You won’t be disappointed.”

Barb Quick, Marketing and Sales Manager of local First Farmer’s State Bank and long time cheerleader for the web design firm, also recommended Cybernautic for the award. “I’ve found them to be very creative, patient, and understanding.  I recommend Cybernautic Design to many of my colleagues and feel confident that they will do a good job.  In fact, I’ve had many businesses follow up with me and thank me for referring them to Cybernautic.  That speaks volumes of their talents and the way they conduct business,” she said.

Cybernautic even received recommendations from people like Ed Brady, owner of Brady Homes and brother of Illinois Senator Bill Brady, a friend of CEO Chad Parker.

“Cybernautic generously volunteered their services and donated countless man-hours acting as a media liaison to organize and promote the project.  They created the website which was the portal for organizing thousands of volunteers and donations.

"The Cybernautic team also maintained updates on the various social networking sites for the duration of the project.  They even volunteered time to work on the actual house themselves.

"Thanks to their dedication, we were able to organize the skills, resources, and materials to get the job done and the community was able to stay up to date and watch the transformation unfold,” Ed Brady said, praising Cybernautic for building the first Extreme Makeover website of its kind that did not crash after the project was publicly announced in the area.

Chad Parker, honored in the past as an IBI Forty Leaders Under 40 Award winner and a Pantagraph Twenty Leaders Under 40 Award winner, accepted the Small Business Excellence Award on behalf of Cybernautic.  He spoke of the support of his community and thanked his staff, his company’s clients, the other award winners, and the local community for helping Cybernautic to achieve the standard of excellence that defines a company deserving of such an award.
