Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois approached us with the goal of involving more students in their athletic events. They explained that in the past several years student attendance has been lower than expected and they were looking for new ways to engage students online. We met with the BU Athletics Department staff several times to brainstorm. In the end we decided that the best approach was to setup an online system that would reward students for attending BU sporting events.
Here's how it works: when a student purchases a ticket and attends an event, their name is recorded with a point value for their ticket in a database. Periodically, a member of the Bradley University Athletic's Department staff will upload a file to their website that our systems process to determine the current point values for each student. The top ten students are listed on the home page of the website's "Leaderboard." But you can also view a full list of students on the leaderboard page. The students with the most points at certain times in the semester win prizes.
The next step for this site is to integrate social networking so that students can share their point count via Facebook and Twitter to encourage other students to attend games and events.
So far the Bradley University Red Sea website has been a huge success. We're thrilled to be partnered with Bradley University to support outstanding academics and outstanding athletics in Peoria!
Jason Fairfield from Bradley University's Athletics Departments had this to say about the project:
"Teaming up with Cybernautic has been a first class experience. Their professionalism and enthusiasm for web design has represented Bradley Athletics at the highest level. As an Athletic Department we were looking for a way to drive up attendance and increase student involvement at all of our events. Thanks to Cybernautic our student organization membership and involvement is rapidly increasing."
