Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Easterseals?

Easterseals Central Illinois is a nonprofit driven by our purpose to change the way the world defines and views disability by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day. For almost 100 years, we have been serving Central Illinois children from birth through age 18 with a robust array of services and programs that help them achieve their full potential.

Who is Cybernautic?

Cybernautic is a web design, web application, and web marketing agency based in Bloomington, IL that has a global client base.

Why did Easterseals sell the building to Cybernautic? What’s the current arrangement?

Easterseals was not fully utilizing its space and was interested in consolidating onto one floor for space and financial efficiency. At the same time, Cybernautics was seeking space in Bloomington for its growing company. Selling the building to Cybernautics was a financially sustainable decision that enabled Easterseals to right-size its footprint.

Didn’t the Easterseals announce a move to YMCA?

Yes, Easterseals is part of an exciting collaboration with the Bloomington-Normal YMCA and OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, in which OSF is donating land on its campus for the construction of a new, centrally located Y facility that would also house Easterseals. This initiative is in the early stages and will likely be a multi-year effort.

We will continue to provide services through our shared space with Cybernautic and ensure there is no interruption in service provision in the transition to the future Y facility. We will offer the same services at the Y facility as we offer currently. As Cybernautic is a growing company, they will plan to the absorb the space when it is vacated by Easterseals.

What’s next for Easterseals?

As always, we continue to respond dynamically to the needs of the Bloomington-Normal community, and we look forward to expanding our autism services with the launch of the Autism Learning Center in June 2018. This learning center for children with autism ages 3-5 will offer occupational and speech therapy and applied behavioral analysis services to prepare them to enter school in an inclusive classroom.

Easterseals Timber Pointe Outdoor Center is also preparing to open for Summer Camp 2018 and has recently hired a new camp director.

How many staff are located here?

Easterseals has approximately 30 staff working from this facility, and Cybernautic will have approximately 20-25 staff in the building.

What’s the connection between these companies? How did you come together?

While Easterseals and Cybernautic work in entirely different sectors, we are both have a shared passion for serving the Bloomington-Normal community. In addition to that, Cybernautic’s investment in the non-profit world through GOYA Ministries there is a common heartbeat shared between Easter Seals & Cybernautic when it comes to serving kids & families! The old adage, that we are better together than we are on our own, really is proven true in this partnership.
